Mildred L. Pontiff
Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mildred L. Pontiff, 73, who passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at her home.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Brian Webre officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers were Lainey Soileau and Kinsley Anslem. Gift bearers were Gabe, Alyssa, Gracie, Colton and Zoe.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Mildred was a loving mom and grandma (mee-maw) to everyone. She enjoyed picking pecans, crosswords, watching soap operas and wrestling, being a weather forecaster and loving dictator to her family, drinking coffee, and playing with her dog Lola Rae. Mildred will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her nieces, who she thought of as her daughters, Glenda Guidry and Cherie Anslem; nieces, Myra, Christine, Tappy, Pat, Amanda, Elaine, Chelsea and Brandi; nephews, Shane, Gordon, Paul, and Michael; grandchildren, Orry, Alyssa, Gracie, Colton, Kinsley, Gabe, Randy and Zoe; godchildren, Terry Franks and Lainey Soileau; brothers-in-law, Harris Guidry, Adolph Pontiff Jr. and spouse Lee, and Bruno Quebedeaux; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Lagrange and Margine Ella Latiolais and spouse V.J.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband for over 40 years, Chester Pontiff; son, Ricky Pontiff; parents, Angelas and Bertha Marks Lalonde; sisters, Eula Mae Franks, Eula Latiolais and Kate Guidry; brothers, Adam, TB and Louis Lalonde; nephews, Randy, Kevin, Johnny, Scotty and Mitchell; and nieces, Karlie, Carleen and June Beryl.
Pallbearers were Shawn Anslem, Brock Darby, Shane Guidry, Gordon Franks Jr., Michael Latiolais and Dean Patin.
Honorary pallbearers were Orry Patin, Randy Guidry, Coby and Chase Dore.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia was in charge of arrangements.
