Matt A. Johnson
Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Matt A. Johnson, 61, who passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue on Saturday at 8 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Brian Webre officiated at the Funeral Service. Readers were Joey Picard and nephew, Harrison Johnson. Singing Amazing Grace and I Will Never Forget You (Isaiah 49) was his daughter-in-law, Charie Johnson. Reading the Eulogy was his sister, Therese Lejeune.
Matt was a well-known welder who was the owner of AMS Fabricators and also AMS Lawn Service. He was a member of the St. Martin Parish Water Patrol and a hunting club. Matt enjoyed doing anything outdoors, especially hunting, property surveying, and archery competitions. He will be remembered as a leader in every aspect of life. Matt will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Susan Poirier Johnson; his son, Joshua M. Johnson and wife Charie Angelle Johnson of Breaux Bridge; his daughter, Alexis R. Johnson; his mother, Charlotte R. Johnson of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Cole M. Johnson and Braylen M. Johnson; his brothers, Anthony Johnson of Carencro, Gregory Johnson of Lafayette, Martin J. Johnson of Lafayette and Lucas Johnson and wife Lisa of Scott; and his sisters, Brenda J. Albarado and husband Dale of Breaux Bridge, Blanche J. Morrison of Lafayette and Therese J. Lejeune of Scott.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andy J. Johnson; a brother, Alphonse Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Lilly Johnson.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
