Mamou – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church for Kathleen C. Theriot, 71, who passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016.
Visiting hours were observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday. A second visitation took place on Sunday at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continued on Monday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Saturday by Deacon Butch Hebert.
Interment followed at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mamou.
Kathleen enjoyed being outdoors, especially crabbing. She loved to cook her famous Cajun meals for all of her family and friends. Kathleen and her husband, Ernest always had a great time when they went to the casino. She loved to spend most of her time cleaning, shopping, dancing and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathleen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 19 years, Ernest Paul Theriot; daughters, Tina R. Manuel and husband Walter, Kay R. Howell and husband Roy and Lynette R. Marcantel and husband André, all of Mamou; sons, Nicol Jean Romero III and life partner David Savoy of Ville Platte and Thomas Paul Theriot and wife Betty of Catahoula; sister, Lisa Ann Champagne and life partner April Scantlin of Mowata; brothers, Ricky Champagne and wife Penny of New Iberia, Jimmy Champagne of Texas, Nathan Champagne of Cade and Danny Champagne of New Iberia; grandchildren, Joshua, Landon, Brandon, April, Dylan, Abbie, Tanner, Randi, Hunter, Macy and Thomas Jr.; great-grandchildren, Micah, Braylen, Heath, Lauryn, Morghan, Parker, Aisley, Payton, Beaux, Lakelyn and Karsyn; sisters-in-law, Lucille, Rena, Bernice and Rebecca; and brothers-in-law, Laurent, Leroy and Merlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Antoine Champagne Sr. and Betty Jane Champagne; former husband, Nicol Jay Romero Jr.; brothers, Percy “PJ” Champagne Jr. and David Champagne; sister, Barbara Davis; sister-in-law, Ruby Ann Theriot; brothers-in-law, Louis Theriot and Howard J. Theriot; and great-grandchild, Tristen Howell.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Joshua Howell, Landon Manuel, Dylan Manuel, Hunter Marcantel, Tanner Marcantel and Bryce Deaville.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge, was in charge of arrangements.
