Madge Josephine Zimmerman LeBlanc

Madge Josephine Zimmerman LeBlanc passed away peacefully Thursday, February 18, 2016, at 4:15 p.m. at the Memorial Hermann Hospice facility in Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016, at an 11 a.m. Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana. The church will be open for visitation for two hours prior to Mass.
Interment will be immediately after the service at the Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
She was born in Nina, Louisiana on February 24, 1920, and married Lawrence ‘Malin’ LeBlanc in 1935. They had one daughter together, Yvette. Around 1954 Madge became a sales clerk in the fabric department of Heymann’s Department Store, where she enjoyed working with the public for approximately 35 years until her retirement.
At age 78 she moved to Houston with her daughter to be with her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Yvette LeBlanc Bienvenu; four grandchildren, Kevin Eugene Bienvenu and wife Laurette, Louise Bienvenu Comeaux and husband Marcus, Jeanne Bienvenu Allain and husband Stephen ‘Moe’, and Rene Simon Bienvenu and wife Maquelle; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elie and Delores ‘Bechon’ Zimmerman; an infant grandson and an infant great-grandson; and her brother, Aurelien ‘Zim’ Zimmerman, whose family was like her own.
Very much a people person, Madge knew and was loved by many people of all ages. Her extreme friendliness helped her accumulate a very large extended family, to whom she was known as ‘Mimi’ or ‘Aunt Madge’.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to the Carmelite monastery in Lafayette, Louisiana.
