Hilda ‘Mom Balloon’ D. Altemus

Henderson – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Hilda “Mom Balloon” D. Altemus, 94, who passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
Visiting hours were observed from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Henderson. A rosary was prayed at 2 p.m. on Monday.
Fr. Michael Champagne officiated at the Funeral Service. Gift bearers were Fran Credeur and Millicent Noel.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Hilda was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic and always prayed the rosary. Hilda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Harvey Altemus; daughters, Ester Latiolais, Virginia Noel and husband Elridge, and Susie Stelly and husband Donald; sisters, Adelle Guilbeaux, Mildred Roberts and Beulah Doucet; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Altemus; parents, Herman and Adelaide Burch Dupuis; son, Garland Altemus; sister, Hazel Berard; brothers, Cleveland Dupuis and Kaiser Dupuis; grandsons, Cashmin James Dugas and Garland Altemus; and a granddaughter, Donna Trahan.
Pallbearers were Chad Stelly, Dean Altemus, Rod Altemus, Blake Latiolais, Larry Noel and Elridge Noel Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerome Latiolais, Curtis Latiolais and James Noel.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Henderson was in charge of arrangements.
