Enola Champagne Melancon
Parks – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Enola Champagne Melancon, 87, who passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, in St. Martinville.
Visiting hours were observed from 1:30 pm until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continued on Friday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Father Brian Sibley officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Sara-Jean Breaux and Jackie Benoit. Gift Bearers were Victoria Pellegran and Maddie Breaux.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Melancon was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed participating in all church events; such as counting money, working the church fairs, attending daily Mass, and even going to an Astros game with Father Sibley. She was known to many as a happy-go-lucky person and went along with everything. She loved playing Bingo and Pokeno, cooking, especially her cabbage rolls, and going to the casino. The joy of her life was spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that she loved so dearly.
She is survived by son, Jerry Champagne and wife Cheryle of St. Martinville; step son, Malcom Melancon of Breaux Bridge; step daughter, Ronnie Garritt and husband Rickie of Breaux Bridge; four grandchildren; 19 great-grandchilters, Maria Frederick, Martha Theriot and Esther Douet; and a step great-granddaughter, Ashley Hebert.
Pallbearers were Billy Pellegran, Ronnie Rogers, Baylon Pellegran, Mitchel Melancon, Reed Hebert and Daniel Breaux.
Honorary pallbearers were Dale Breaux, Matt Breaux and Rickie Garritt.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
