Paul Blanchard
Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Paul Blanchard, 82, who passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at St. Agnes Health Care & Rehab Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Brian Webre officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial. Scriptures were read by Nicole Blanchard. Gift bearers were Tanner Blanchard and Bryson Blanchard. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Paul served in the Army as a paratrooper and was an 82nd Airborne Veteran. He was a devout Catholic and would go to the Adoration Chapel. Paul served as an usher at St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and also served as treasurer for the Holy Name Society.
His favorite things to do were genealogy and gardening. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, and would always enjoy a cup of coffee and visiting. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Blanchard and his wife Julie, Tommy Blanchard and his wife Nicole and Blaine Blanchard; his daughters, Etheline Blanchard Dupuy and Eva Dale Fontenot and her husband Mark; his sister, Ann Dupuis and her husband Adley; his grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Dupuy, Kenneth Bailey Dupuy, Lauren Blanchard, Caitlin Blanchard, Lucas Blanchard, Craig Paul Devillier, Christopher Devillier, Rena Devillier Romero, Tanner Blanchard, Jillian Blanchard, Jana Blanchard, Amber Blan-chard ans Bryson Blanchard; his step grandchildren, Rachelle Guillory, Danielle Fontenot, Miles Fontenot and Kylie Bergeron; 16 great-grandchildren; and his estranged wife, Betty Q. Blanchard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Valentine Landry Blanchard; his brothers, Vincent and Harris Blanchard; his first wife, Rhena Caillier Blanchard; his grandchild, Brock Blanchard; and great-granddaughter, Mya Devillier.
Pallbearers were Ashley Nicole Dupuy, Kenneth Bailey Dupuy, Lucas Blanchard, Christopher Devillier, Blaise Dupuis and Mark Fontenot.
In Lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana in Paul’s name.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
