Parks Middle School student charged in connection with bomb threats
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of a bomb threat from school officials at Parks Middle School following the discovery of a written note in a restroom at the school, which prompted both of the 911 calls.
Deputies responded to the scene on two separate days (Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning). Following school board officials evacuation of the students, a thorough search of the school was completed by the Parks Police Department and deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office. Parks, Evangeline, and St. Martin Parish Fire District Volunteer Fire Departments also responded and assisted.
Following an investigation into the matter, an 11 year old male Parks Middle School student was charged as follows in connection with the incident:
La. R.S. 14:54.6- Communicating of false information of planned bombing on school property, at a school-sponsored function, or in a firearm-free zone
After he was charged, he was released to the custody of his parents.
