Joseph ‘Papa Loafa’ Bob, Jr

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Joseph “Papa Loafa” Bob, Jr., 74, who passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at St. Martin Hospital.
A rosary was recited on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Delcambre officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Bob was a longtime soy bean and corn farmer and also worked as a machine operator for Camel Construction. He took part in the development of River Ranch, Downtown Lafayette, and other city developments. He loved his family with a passion and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. As a pastime “Papa Loafa” loved listening to Zydeco music. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, especially his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Bob Wiltz and husband Joseph, Jr., Helen Bob Wiltz and husband Charles M., Sr., Marie Bob Calais and husband Nicholas, Jr., Shirley Bob Pete and husband Cleo, and Peggy Broussard Garrett and husband Charles; brothers, Lawrence Bob and Joseph Alton Bob; sister, Mary O. Bob; grandchildren, Charles M. Wiltz, Jr., Michael J. Wiltz, Sr., Natasha M. Wiltz, Jeremy J. Wiltz, Dylan T. Calais, Joseph Bob A. Wiltz, Krystal “Tina” M. Calais, Braylon J. Pete, Jolesa Broussard, JaVanti Broussard, and Maddisen Garrett; great grandchildren, Caleb M. Wiltz, Michael J. Wiltz, Jr., and Chloe M. Wiltz; sisters-in-law, Gustavia Alexander, Juliana Bob, Prenella Bob, and Barbara Walker; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph Bob, Sr. and Corita Ames Bob; his beloved wife, Mary J. Bob; daughter, Mildred Thomas; brothers, Roy Paul Bob, Russell Bob, Milton Bob, Adam Bob, and Larry Bob; and his sister, Shirley B. Lucas.
Pallbearers were Charles M. Wiltz Jr., Michael J. Wiltz Sr., Mitchell Bob, Russell Jeffery, Joseph Murphy Dardar, and Herbert Bob.
Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Bob, Joseph Alton Bob, Joseph Wiltz Jr., Charles M. Wiltz Sr., Nicholas Calais Jr., Cleo Pete, Charles Garrett, Roy J. Bob, Jr., Frederick Bob, and Adam Bob, Jr.
Pellerin Funeral Home, in Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
