Leola ‘Lee’ Blanchard

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Leola “Lee” Blanchard, 72, who passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at her residence.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015, and continued until 10:30 a.m. on Monday. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Steven LeBlanc officiated at the Mass. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Leola loved bingo and was very active with the St. Martin Parish Council on Aging. She loved to go camping, cook, and spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her children and family will always remember her good cooking, her generosity, and unfailing kindness.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, LeRoy (Barbara) Abshire Jr., Ricky (Janice) Abshire, Elizabeth “Liz” Abshire, Patricia Abshire, Gloria (Carlos) Miller, Tracy (Yvette) Abshire, Heather Abshire and Scott Blanchard; 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Darcas (Loveless) Monic, Jessie Ray Schexneider, Mary Ann (Robert) Guidry, and Doris Sue Babb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude Joseph Schexneider Sr. and Rita Mae Schexneider; sons, Michael Ray Abshire and Brandon Todd Blanchard; a granddaughter, Ashlynn Grace Blanchard; her first husband, LeRoy Joseph Abshire Sr.; her husband, Clifford Blanchard; and her siblings, Wilfred Ray Schexneider, James “Manny” Schexneider, Claude Joseph Schexneider Jr., Earl Ray Schexneider, Ricky Schexneider, Wilda Mae Lavergne and Ina Marie Schexneider.
Pallbearers were Cody Abshire, Trinty Slade Miller, Cole Trahan, Eddie Trahan, Matthew Abshire and Gabriel Abshire.
Honorary pallbearers were Dominic Abshire, Christian Abshire, Jonathan Abshire, Nicholas Abshire, Daniel Fontenot, Gavin Abshire and Gaige Thibodeaux.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
