Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Genevieve Leona Guidry, 72, who passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and continued on Friday at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Fr. David Broussard officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Guidry was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Parks. She enjoyed playing Bingo and being with her family and friends. Genevieve will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph O’neal Guidry of Breaux Bridge; two sons, David Guidry and Mark (Lane) Guidry, all of Breaux Bridge; her daughter, Connie (Herman) Guidry of Breaux Bridge; two brothers, Ronnie Thibodeaux and Terry Thibodeaux, both of Breaux Bridge; her sister, Ruby Haynes of Breaux Bridge; four grandchildren, Kyle, Mason, Matthew and Kara Guidry, all of Breaux Bridge; and three great-grandchildren, Caden, Ryder and Hayden.
She is preceded in death by her father, Leonce Malhorin; her mother, Anna Mae Stout Malhorin; her brother, James Malhorin; a grandson, Jonathan Guidry; and her daughter-in-law, Denise Guidry.
Pallbearers were Mason Guidry, Matthew Guidry, Kyle Rohen, Donald Guidry, Daniel Hebert and Terry Thibodeaux.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
