Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 10 a.m. with Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert Jr. conducting the funeral services at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge.
Rose was born February 11, 1927, in Moreauville, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, the sixth child of Henry J. LaCour and Lena Lemoine LaCour. Rose graduated from Moreauville High School then attended Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans. Rose married Stanford “Static” B. Gauthier on June 18, 1949, and after relocating in several small south Louisiana farming towns moved to Breaux Bridge in 1952 where Rose resided until her death.
Rose was involved in several school activities at St. Bernard School while Rose’s sons were students at St. Bernard including room mother, Cub Scout Pack Leader and chaperone/driver for numerous field trips. During those school years Rose also loved to take the boys (and Rose) and their friends fishing at Lake Martin and Al Grace’s camp in Henderson, neither of which were the same after Rose’s fishing trips.
Rose is survived by her two sons, Stanford B. Gauthier II and wife Mary “Bruci” Broussard Gauthier and Peter G. Gauthier and former wife Deborah Guidry Gauthier, all of Breaux Bridge. Rose is also survived by her three grandchildren, Danielle Gauthier Foreman and husband Scott Aaron Foreman of Lafayette and their children, Reese Taylor Foreman and Graham Matthew Foreman, Andre Paul Gauthier and wife Lori Dupont Gauthier of Bixby, Oklahoma, and their child, Ian Paul Gauthier, and Jacob Paul Gauthier of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Stanford “Static” B. Gauthier; her parents, Henry J. LaCour and Lena Lemoine LaCour; Rose’s four brothers, Henry Jr., Gerald, Thomas and Jorda; and Rose’s five sisters, Geraldine, Gertrude, Elaine, Claire and Louise.
Rose’s family would like to express thanks and gratitude to the staff at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home in Arnaudville, Louisiana. Words cannot express, nor may money compensate the care, compassion and understanding provided to Rose while a six year guest. Rose’s family will forever be grateful and remember what all of the staff at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home did for Rose.
Also special thanks to Kathleen Devillier, Rose’s caretaker and Rose’s last best friend.
Rose’s family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Bernard School Guardian Angels, 251 E. Bridge Street, Breaux Bridge, LA 70517; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105;, or a worthy charity of your choice.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
