BREAUX BRIDGE WOMAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING STABBING

Shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in progress in the 1000 block of Camp Bon Ton Road in Breaux Bridge.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male subject who had sustained a stab wound to the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injury.
The suspect, Brooke Mathis, 26, Breaux Bridge, had initially fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival, but was apprehended a short time later at a residence off of Hollow Oak Road where she was arrested on suspicion of aggravated second degree battery, domestic/child endangerment.
She was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
