Elise Duchamp Gaudin
Elise Duchamp Gaudin, 86, born on January 26, 1928, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. She was the third to youngest of 10 children of Nita Mae Bienvenue Duchamp and Hypolite Joseph Duchamp.
A lifelong native of St. Martinville, Elise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Roland Gerald Gaudin; her parents; four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her sister, Doris “Dot” Lopez and husband Dalton of Lafayette; brother, Kenny Duchamp of Biloxi, Miss.; three children, Wayne Gaudin and wife Elaine of Houston, Texas, Glen Gaudin and wife Carol of Broussard, and Paula Senna of Sacramento, Cal.; seven grandchildren, Michelle Gaudin, Robert Gaudin, Felicia D. Landry, Angie Hays, Alicia Johnson, Jacob Senna and Callie Senna; and seven great-grandchildren, Abbigail Hays, Kaitlin Landry, Tyler Hays, Justin Landry, Leanna Figueroa, Autumn Gaudin and Leonidus Gaudin.
Throughout Elise’s life she enjoyed gardening and birds, appreciating God’s gifts of nature. She was a parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for over 30 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville. Fr. Paul Bienvenu officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Jeremy Hays and Denise Woodrum. Gift Bearers were Alicia Johnson and Callie Senna.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Visiting hours were observed from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, and continued on Friday at 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers were Glen J. Gaudin, Wayne Gaudin, Robert Gaudin, Larry Gaudin, Marcus Lopez and Richard Duchamp.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
