Lawrence Picard

Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Lawrence Picard, 84, who passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, and continued on Sunday at 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary wase prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Rev. David Broussard officiated at the Funeral Service. Scriptures were read by Joey Picard and Jennifer Angelle.
Entombment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Picard was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, honorably serving his country in the United States Navy, while serving aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Valley Forge. He was the owner and operator of Picard’s Auto Parts since 1961, which still today remains a family owned business. Lawrence was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an airplane pilot and loved riding his tractor and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Irene Friedman Picard; two sons, Larry Picard and wife Millie, and Rick Picard and wife Lisa; two daughters, Tavia Hudi and husband Tony, and Nicole Blanchard and husband Tommy; his brother, Jack Picard Jr. and wife Mimi; his sister-in-law, Mary Picard; six grandchildren, Brandon Picard and wife Nicole, Robert Picard and wife Abbi, Richard Picard, Sam Hudi, Simon Hudi and Tanner Blanchard; and four great-grandchildren, Emma and Chloe Picard and Jake and Andrew Picard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Picard Sr. and Idalie Thibodeaux Picard; and his brother, Joe Picard.
Pallbearers were Brandon Picard, Robert Picard, Richard Picard, Tommy Blanchard, Tony Hudi, Sam Hudi, Simon Hudi and Bryce Andrepont.
Honorary pallbearer was Tanner Blanchard.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
