Patsy Poirier Gonzales

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Patsy Ann Poirier Gonzales, 62, who passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015, at her residence.
Visiting hours were observed from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Monday, and continued on Tuesday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary was prayed by the Men’s Rosary Group at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Scriptures were read by Bethany Duplechain and Beverly Cambre. Gift Bearers were Amanda Laperouse and Sydni and Leah Duplechain.
Interment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Patsy was employed by the St. Martin Group, where she worked as an office manager with Dr. Kenneth Fournet for 35 years. She loved helping others, which is why she sought employment in the medical field. As a pastime, Patsy enjoyed going to the casino, but she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. Patsy was known as “Nanny” to all her nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Lupe Gonzales of St. Martinville; two sons, Ryan Paul Gonzales and Nicholas James Gonzales and wife Heather, all of St. Martinville; five brothers, Julien Poirier Jr. of Erath, Francis Poirrier and wife Lorraine of New Iberia, Ewell Poirier, Donald Poirier Sr. and wife Juliette, and Rodney Poirier Sr. and wife Barbara, all of St. Martinville; her sister, Margaret Segura and husband Jackie of St. Martinville; and four grandchildren, Owen Gonzales, Cooper Gonzales, and twins, Jacques and Kade Gonzales.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Julien Poirier Sr. and Euphemie Romero Hollier; her step father, Larry Hollier; three sisters, Edmae Freeman, Julia Blanchard and Rosabell Breaux; and her brother, Louis Poirier.
Pallbearers were Mark Segura, Dwayne Poirier, Charles Cambre IV, Felix Duplechain, Billy Joe Gonzales and Toby Breaux.
Honorary pallbearers were Julien Poirier Jr., Francis Poirrier, Ewell Poirier, Donald Poirier Sr., Rodney Poirier Sr. and Timmy Poirier.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
