Yvonne Dugas Broussard
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Yvonne Dugas Broussard, 100, who passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014.
Visiting hours were observed from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge.
Rev. David Broussard officiated at the funeral service. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Broussard was retired as a Registered Nurse, having worked at the St. Martin Parish Health Unit for many years, being well-known as the “shot lady.” As a pastime she enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, and sewing for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and volunteered her time as a Pink Lady at St. Martin Hospital (Gary Memorial Hospital) for numerous years.
She is survived by two sons, John Broussard and wife Jean, and Robert Broussard; five grandchildren, Jan Delahoussaye and husband Jeff, Jill Broussard, Ben Broussard and wife Jaime, Bobby Broussard and wife Sophie, and Nicole Landry; nine great-grandchildren, Kristen, Britney, Lauren, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Dustin, Ryan, Brett and Olivier; and three great-great- grandchildren, Aidan, Brylynn and Addison.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Broussard; her son, Arthur Broussard; a granddaughter, Judy Broussard; her parents, Paul and Reine Michel Dugas; and two brothers, Max and Raoul Dugas.
Pallbearers were John Broussard, Jeff Delahoussaye, Ben Broussard, Bobby Broussard, Leo Pitre and Dustin Hebert.
Honorary pallbearers were Brett Broussard, Aidan Hays, Ryan Broussard and Harold Green.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to Sheila Landry, Leo Pitre and her sitters and friends, Maranda Roberts, Hazel Smith, Mickey Boyer, Mary Wiltz and Shirley Wiltz. They blessed us with the gift of enjoying our last years with her at home.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
