New Beginning Church of Breaux Bridge food giveaway has grown

On Friday, March 7, New Beginning Church of Breaux Bridge gave food to help the needy of St. Martin Parish.

Over 600 people were served and more then 25,000 pounds of food given out.

“The families received spiritual food as well as food for the physical body,” said Angel Venable, one of the organizers.

The food was provided by Second Harvest Food Bank.

“We had over 25 people from our church volunteer to make this day possible,” Venable said.

“Our food pantry has been serving the local community for four years now and this was our largest turnout,” she said.

“It started off with $100 and the church buying food to give away,” Venable said. “It has grown and now we are blessed with giving out thousands of pounds of food per month to many families.”
