COA director placed on administrative leave
The board of directors of the St. Martin Parish Council on Aging has placed COA executive director Wayne LeJeune on administrative leave.
Don “Tuffy” Resweber, board chairman, announced the action last Friday. In a statement released over the weekend, Resweber said “A six-month evaluation of (LeJeune) resulted in a satisfactory rating and a vote for a $2,000 raise per year. Shortly after, concerns came to light that necessitated placing (him) on paid administrative leave.
“The board of directors will meet on Friday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Council on Aging/Sydnie Mae Durand Building to review these concerns.
“All services remain in place and all staff continue to be employed. Erica LeBlanc, administrative assistant, will continue to manage the day-to-day operation. Erica was hired nine months ago as recommended by Burton Dupuis, then interim executive director.
“The St. Martin Council on Aging Board is very proactive and will resolve this issue on a timely basis. All activities and services are on schedule.”
In response to the press release, LeJeune told the Teche News Monday morning that he is “not exactly sure why I was placed on administrative leave and it completely caught me by surprise.”
