The growing feral hog population is causing millions of dollars of damage to agriculture across the southeastern United States. Because they are intelligent, difficult to control and have an appetite for just about anything, the hogs can quickly wipe out fields of crops along with farmers’ investments.
A significant part of the problem of low water pressure here is the fact that one of the Cecilia Water Corporation’s four wells is out of operation and another is operating at about half-capacity, said the system’s manager, Bruce Guidry.
The following arrests and/or citations were reported in St. Martin Parish for Monday, Feb. 3:
Dwain Blanchard, 35, 700 block of Hank St., Breaux Bridge; probation violation, Louisiana Probation and Parole (LP&P).
Breaux Bridge – Interstate 10 across Acadiana was battening down for another winter storm as the Teche News went to press this week. This one was expected to be worse than last week’s, which shut down traffic across the Atchafalaya Basin and was blamed for several deaths across the state.
Louisiana State Police is closely monitoring the winter weather that is forecast for the upcoming days and urge citizens across the state to keep abreast of the latest weather and travel conditions before traveling on roadways and potentially exposing themselves to dangerous conditions.
