Rotary Mardi Gras Ball set for Feb. 18

The Rotary Club of St. Martinville will stage its 71th annual Mardi Gras Carnival Ball on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Cade Community Center.
Club president Jamie Castille said the theme of this year’s ball will be
“Renaissance de la Ville” in keeping with the spirit of St. Martinville’s observance of the 200th anniversary of the town’s incorporation in 1817.
Tickets and table reservations will go on sale to the general public on
Monday, Feb. 6, and can be purchased at the State Farm Insurance office, Suite A, 400 South Main in St. Martinville.
Tickets are priced at $25, and a table of eight may be reserved for $250. Only advance tickets will be offered – no tickets will be available at the door on the night of the ball.
The pageant will begin at 7 p.m. Following the presentation of the royal court in lavish costumes, Sideshow will provide music for dancing until 1 a.m.
A dress rehearsal, also open to the public, will be held on Friday, Feb. 17 at the Community Center. Admission will be $3 for children and $7 for adults.
The Carnival Ball is the Rotary Club’s main fund raising event, with proceeds used to finance a number of community activities, including educational scholarships, Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas presents for needy families, nursing home bingos, food for the needy, literacy programs and beautification projects, among others.
