Rep. Huval heads up Acadiana Delegation
State Representative Mike Huval, D-District 46, has been elected chairman of the Acadiana Legislative Delegation for the 2017 Legislative Session.
Rep. Huval serves House District 46, which includes portions of Iberia, St. Landry and St. Martin parishes. He serves on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs and serves as vice chair, Insurance, Ways and Means, House Executive Committee, and Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay
“It is truly a humbling honor to serve as chairman of this Delegation,” Huval said. I look forward to working together with all members of the twenty-two parishes. We will continue to work as a united coalition to continue to fight with full effort and unity to make sure all citizens in Acadiana’s voice are heard throughout next year.”
Senator Jonathan Perry, R-Kaplan, was re-elected as the delegation’s vice chairman without opposition, and Rep. John Berthelot, D-Gonzales, was elected secretary/treasurer, also without opposition.
As chairman, Huval appointed six delegation members to serve on the Executive Committee. They are: Reps. Major Thibaut, Vincent Pierre, Tanner Magee, Nancy Landry, Terry Landry and Senator R.L. “Bret” Allain II.
The Acadiana Delegation was formed in 1979. It is composed of 33 representatives and 13 senators whose districts are fully or partially located within one of the 22 parishes designated as the Acadiana Region.
