Fete Dieu scheduled for Monday, August 15

Two religious events are scheduled over the next few days in St. Martinville and St. Martin Parish and are expected to draw large crowds.
An inner faith prayer service is set for Thursday, Aug. 11 at Maison Duchamp on St. Martinville’s Main Street at 6:30 p.m.
Followers of all faiths are invited to attend and join in prayers for our city, state and nation.

On Monday, Aug. 15, the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Fête-Dieu du Teche will stage its second annual Eucharistic Procession down Bayou Teche.
Bishop J. Douglas Deshotels, of the Diocese of Lafayette, will begin the event by celebrating Mass in French at St. Leo the Great Church in Leonville at 8 a.m.
Hundreds are expected to travel by boat down Bayou Teche following the Mass adhering to the following schedule:
•9 a.m. – Procession from St.. Leo’s to Leonville boat landing.
•9:30 a.m. – Boat procession departs.
•10:20 a.m. – Rosary and Benediction in Arnaudville.
•11:45 a.m. – Rosary and Benediction in Cecilia.
•1:35 p.m. – Rosary and Benediction in Breaux Bridge.
•3:15 p.m. – Rosary and Benediction in Parks.
•4:45 p.m. – Arrival at Evangeline Oak in St. Martinville; procession to Notre Dame Church for Benediction.
•5 p.m. – Procession from Notre Dame to St. Martin de Tours Church for Benediction.
•6 p.m. – Procession down Main Street to Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel for Solemn Vespers and final Benediction.
