Board to consider 2017-18 budgets
Approval of the system’s fiscal year 2017-18 budgets is among the key agenda items for members of the St. Martin School Board to consider during their monthly meeting today (Wednesday).
The board’s Finance Committee will meet at 4 p.m. in the Administrative Office on Corporate Boulevard with the full board meeting to follow at 5 p.m.
The proposed general fund budget totals $67.5 million while the two one-cent sales taxes are projected to collect $13.9 million during the fiscal year.
In a budget-related item, the board will also consider a staff recommendation for the payment of two sales tax salary supplements for employees during the fiscal year in the amount of $1,000 for professionals and $715 for paraprofessionals, one in November and another next May.
School improvements projects being funded by proceeds from bond issues approved in 2013 and 2016 will again take up much of today’s business. The projects include:
•Authorize A&E to proceed with the advertising for reroofing projects at Cecilia Primary, Teche Elementary, St. Martinville Sr. High (weight room), Parks Primary, Parks Elementary, Catahoula Elementary and Stephensville Elementary.
•Consider awarding of contract for Cecilia High oxidation pond reclamation to the lowest bidder.
•Consider authorizing the superintendent, board president and vice president to accept the low quote for the St. Martinville Sr. High softball lighting project if under the $150,000 budget.
•Consider awarding substantial completion for Breaux Bridge Primary parking drives, Breaux Bridge Elementary classroom renovation, Cecilia Primary parking and bus drive, and Stephensville AC equipment replacement.
