Acadian Fest this Saturday
The 13th annual Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival and Wooden Boat Congrès will be held this Saturday, March 18, in and around the Acadian Memorial and the Bayou Teche.
The Festival will also mark the re-opening of the Acadian Memorial which has been undergoing repairs following last August’s flood. Mayor Thomas Nelson will cut the ceremonial ribbon at 10 a.m.
The Cultural Heritage Center, which houses the Museum of the Acadian Memorial and the African American Museum, is still closed for repairs.
Food, music, arts and crafts, theater, demonstrations, children’s activities and workshops continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Evangeline Oak Park on Bayou Teche.
To celebrate both the Cajun/Acadian culture and the 200th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of St. Martinville, attendees are invited to dress in period costume.
