$966,000 Cecilia Library expansion set to begin
The St. Martin Parish Library Board has awarded a $966,000 contract to JC Construction LLC for renovation and additions to the Cecilia Branch Library.
The Broussard company was the low bidder among seven firms seeking the work at prices ranging as high as $1.32 million.
The project budget is $1,069,325.
Plans call for the addition of 2,723 square feet to the existing 3,293 sq. ft. library plus a porte-cochère for the entrance.
Additions will include a meeting/multi-purpose room, two study rooms, a staff lounge, a book receiving and storage area and an additional collection area.
Plans also call for the existing interiors to be renovated and all interior lighting to be converted to LED.
The existing library sign will be replaced by a new pedestal monument with an integrated LED screen that will allow for continuous messages to be displayed and updated as needed. Twenty-six parking spaces will be provided.
Construction is set to begin in June with a completion date expected by early summer of 2018.
During library renovations the library will be temporarily relocated next door at 2460-A Cecilia Sr. High Road in the former Technology Center.
The project architect is Angelle Architects of Breaux Bridge represented by Dione Sonnier and David LaBarbera.
