Update on remains found off Leland Rd. near Henderson

On July 4, 2014, Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a pedestrian regarding the discovery of what appeared to be human remains in area off of Leland Road in Henderson.

Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered the remains and sent them to the L.S.U. Forensics Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services Laboratory in Baton Rouge for further verification. At the time of the discovery, it appeared to Investigators that the remains had probably been unearthed and exposed for an extended period of time.

Based on the findings from the lab, the report indicated that the remains were from an adult male and female and that they more than likely originated from disturbed graves from a cemetery and that they were over ten years old.
