St. Martin Sheriff's Office helping with Cinderella Project

The St. Martin Sheriff's Office is a drop-off location for the UL Lafayette AmeriCorps-Cinderella Project.

With prom season around the corner, the Cinderella Project of Lafayette is enabling many high school girls to attend the dance “dressed to the nines,” said SMSO spokesperson Maj. Ginny Higgins.

The Cinderella Project distributes free prom dresses, shoes and accessories such as jewelry to those who might not be able to afford the expensive outfits.

The free shopping spree is available to all junior and senior high schools girls. All that is needed is a valid school ID.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m. at Blackham Coliseum.

Donations of gently used (must be dry cleaned) or new formal dresses will be accepted until Feb. 28.

Donors may drop off items at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Special Services Department located on the first floor at 1815 W. Terrace Highway (La Hwy. 92), the old Juvenile Training Center, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
