Breaux Bridge Man Arrested on Attempted Second Degree Murder Charges

On October 15, 2013, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from Lafayette General Hospital Personnel concerning a female who was severely beaten in the Parish of St. Martin. The victim received great bodily injury and her condition was listed as critical.

Following an investigation into the matter, detectives with the St. Martin Sheriff's Office were able to obtain a warrant for Javin Benoit, 34, of Breaux Bridge, for Attempted Second Degree Murder. On October 17, 2013 Mr. Benoit was arrested without incident by the U. S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and he was subsequently booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
