Parks mayor pleased with first year

Karl Jeter

After his first full year in office, Mayor Kevin Kately is happy with what has been accomplished in Parks government.
At the last Village Council meeting of the year on Dec. 8, Kately commended the council and officials, who, he said, have been “on the same page” to solve issues to help keep the village a great place to live.
Kately especially thanked the citizens of Parks for allowing him to represent them. He said their willingness to come to him with problems and suggestions has made his job very rewarding. He asked residents to consider him available to them at any time.
Kately also reported on the status of several improvements now or soon to be underway in the village. He said that the project to alleviate drainage problems along St. Charles Street will resume as soon as the ground dries enough, and construction of new restroom facilities at the park baseball field, needed for many years, will begin in a week or two.
Efforts continue to secure funding for the construction of a new city hall building. Kately said that the village was considering the retention of a government loan and grant consultant to help make that and other important projects a reality.
Also, the mayor said that an on-line bill payment system for village water customers should be running within a month or two.
