Here comes Santa Claus!

Papa Noël bailing out over Breaux Bridge

Saturday, Dec. 5, Breaux Bridge kicks off the Christmas season with a Nativity scene, stories, a play, treats, fire trucks, face painting – and a salute to the armed forces of the United States.
Papa Noël will again demonstrate his military creds by bailing out high over the hopefully blue skies of St. Martin Parish and arriving on the Breaux Bridge Jr. High football field sometime around 1 p.m.
The Breaux Bridge Cajun Christmas commences in Parc des Ponts at 9 a.m. with crafts, a life Nativity scene featuring the children of St. Bernard School, face painting, a fire truck for kids to explore, and “A Cajun Christmas” read to the little ones by none other than Mrs. Santa Claus.
Santa’s recon squad will parachute onto the BBJH football field around 10 a.m. with flags to honor active duty personnel and veterans.
The Teche Center for the Arts will present “Cajun Night Before Christmas” featuring the Brazos Huval School’s string ensemble band.
After Santa parachutes in around 1 p.m., he’ll be transported by fire truck to the city’s historic downtown to take photos with the kids.
Young and old alike can try out the inflatable military obstacle course in Veterans Park at 3:30 p.m.
Mass will be said at St. Bernard Church at 4 p.m.
Then at 5 p.m. from the band stand in Veterans Park begins the evening ceremonies including the lighting of the Christmas tree, caroling, and an address by guest speaker Col. David McBride.
