BREAUX BRIDGE BICYCLIST DIES FOLLOWING CRASH ON DOYLE MELANCON ROAD

At approximately 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a crash involving a bicyclist and a vehicle at the intersection of Clifton Angelle Road and Doyle Melancon Road in Breaux Bridge.
Upon arrival, deputies were notified that Trey Goodrich, 17, Breaux Bridge, was traveling east on Clifton Angelle Road and attempted to turn right on Doyle Melancon Road when he struck the side of a north bound vehicle on Doyle Melancon Road. Upon impact, he was
thrown from the bicycle and due to injuries sustained in the crash, he was transported to a local hospital where shortly after arrival, he was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
