TWO BATON ROUGE MEN ARRESTED FOR SIMPLE BURGLARY AND HIT AND RUN

Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Friday evening received a 911 call in reference to a male subject that was reported to have fallen through a roof at the Exxon Station in the 2900 block of Grand Point Hwy in Breaux Bridge. Minutes later, a second 911 call came in reporting a hit and run at the same location.
Upon their arrival, deputies were advised that a black male subject had fallen through the roof into the store and fled on foot. A struggle ensued between the suspect and a store clerk who attempted to chase the suspect into an adjoining parking lot where the suspect was observed entering the passenger seat of a two-door black Honda accord. The driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Demanuel Royal, 33, Baton Rouge, while attempting to flee the scene; subsequently struck a store clerk and a vehicle before fleeing onto I-10 Eastbound.
An alert was issued for the suspect vehicle and a short time later, Deputies with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office located and detained the subjects in the 7000 block of Rosedale Road, in Rosedale, Louisiana.
Following further investigation into the incident, it was learned that Ricky Cook, 30, Baton Rouge, had entered the bathroom at the rear of the store, climbed into the crawl space and subsequently entered a locked office at the rear of the store. When he attempted to exit by climbing back through the ceiling, he fell and landed in the middle of the store and then fled on foot to an awaiting vehicle.
The store clerk was transported to a local hospital and was being treated for injuries sustained after being struck by the suspect’s vehicle.
The following two suspects were booked into the Iberville Parish Jail and then transported to the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center where they were booked on the following:
Ricky Cook-1 ct. LA. R.S. 14:62-Simple Burglary
Demanuel Royal-1 ct. LA. R.S. 14:100C(2) Felony Hit And Run With Serious Bodily Injury
