Cecilia man busted on drugs, weapons charges

Military body armor also seized

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Agents, tipped off to suspected drug activity, executed a search warrant July 20 in the 1100 block of Grand Anse Hwy., Cecilia.
The agents seized a an estimated $30,000 worth of illegal narcotics, several firearms including a high-capacity semi-automatic rifle with several magazines, and a significant amount of cash.
Three military armored vests along with several sets of ballistic plates that are suspected to be stolen were also recovered from the residence. The investigation regarding the suspected theft of the body armor is under investigation.
Colby Calais, 45, Cecilia, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute marijuana (second offense), methamphetamine over 28 grams (third offense), amphetamine, caprisoprodol, hydrodone and alprazolam.
Calais is also looking at charges for illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, illegal use of body armor, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal use of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of persons under 17 years of age.
He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
