Singer-songwriter Joe Douglas, a Living Legends inductee by the Acadian Museum of Erath, a performer who toured with Merle Haggard, Ronnie Millsap, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn among others, is embarking on a month-long tour through the Rhine River area of Switzerland during April.
This will be his second tour, focusing on the Cajun music Europeans have come to embrace and enjoy.
To familiarize the Swiss with Douglas, he has been featured on the cover and inside “Country Style” magazine, a very popular music publication throughout Switzerland and its neighboring countries. (The last American featured on its cover was Dolly Parton.)
Douglas will be performing in the ski resorts of St. Moritz, City of Luzern, and other towns along the predominantly French speaking area, with the tour culminating at the 16th Blues Festival Basel.
His Cajun style music will be accompanied by Swiss musicians who played with him the last time he played in Switzerland several years ago.
Douglas has been busy writing songs, and performing throughout America, having gained popularity from appearing on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and singing his hit song, “You’re Still On My Mind.”
Douglas’ tour is sponsored by Tabasco International of Switzerland.
