Butte La Rose
Bonjour!
True to the bone: “dynamite comes in small packages!” Now and then I see Hunter Hayes making national TV and Facebook. He is often performing on these national country music shows. Of our many Cajun/Country music personalities I really think Hunter is one of the most recognized of em all. And just think his career is still in the beginning stage. And do not forget he is a songwriter in Nashville where his family now resides. There will come a time when he’ll be in bigger competition with all the bigger more seasoned names, the best of the best. At every chance when the occasion presents itself when I read a piece of news about Hunter, I share on facebook.
I often see Jo-el Sonnier’s name out there too. You watch for em!
My Tina and I took to the highway headed to Florida like I said we’d do and visited with my son Steve like I said we would. It’s a good distant drive there. I give my Tina an “A” plus on her safe driving. She drove like a champ. Like a trucker running the big road. To say Steve, because of his short time memory loss injury, does not know to ask for food when he’s hungry. Yet he’ll eat every bite of food on his tray when fed. When Tina and I walked in his room upon arrival Friday evening, his food tray was untouched, he had not been fed because he was asleep is what we were told. He has lost about 20 pounds since he has been in that Tallahassee nursing home in about a year.
Just think of the many meals he has been deprived of by using that reason. So heart-wrenching for us. What to do about that since we are so far apart from him? Cher Dieu, s’il vous plait intercept and give these people hearts to feed the ones who cannot feed themselves. That shoe may be on the other foot someday.
His body is healthy aside from that. He loves talking rekindling old memories especially about his fishing days when we visit. He is still very good friends with Brother and Shelia Tabb from Baldwin. Their friendship goes back many years with Brother also a commercial fisherman.
I am planning to can okra again this year, but this time I will can in jars because I lose track of the okra packs in the freezer. Does that happen to you? As I was shopping around for jars on the web this year, I happen to come across some pint-and-a-half glass canning jars. Didn’t know they made ’em. You can even buy the half-gallon canning jars. Say what? I’d never heard of those sizes for canning before. A sized pint is too small for me, a quart is too big, but the pint and a half sounds like it will be just right.
My Bonnie went to Lafayette today and found some at Target. But for what ever reason she did not buy any there. Better yet she ended up at Catin’s in Parks and happen to find some there. She bought for me three cases of nine each. Just what I need. If I need more they’ll order me more. Mais ca c’est something.
I am glad that I am not a TV person. So I do not have a big cable or satellite bill every month. Everywhere I go to visit I see programs I cannot believe I am seeing. My, how times have changed! Not all the shows are unbelievable. But many are. I do like news radio talk shows like FM KPEL and AM KROF. And of course our Cajun/Country music programs.
