Work begins on St. Martin shooting range

Within the next year, law enforcement officers in St. Martin Parish will no longer have to drive to New Iberia to sharpen their firearms skills and satisfy annual qualification requirements.

Parks mayor pleased with first year

After his first full year in office, Mayor Kevin Kately is happy with what has been accomplished in Parks government.
At the last Village Council meeting of the year on Dec. 8, Kately commended the council and officials, who, he said, have been “on the same page” to solve issues to help keep the village a great place to live.

An interactive television link between the clinic serving St. Martinville Primary School and Stephensville Elementary in lower St. Martin Parish is the parish’s first “telemedicine clinic,” designed to serve students in that remote and distant corner of the parish without the burden of having to travel or miss school time to receive a medical examination.

'Telemedical' help for St. Martin schools

The St. Martin Parish School Board launched its first telemedicine clinic, called “Telehealth for Tots,” with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in St. Martinville Friday, Dec. 4.

A program available to St. Martin Parish high school students starting this spring will prepare from for entry-level jobs in the oil and gas industry. Students will learn about oil and gas production processes and achieve industry certification in Production Safety Systems (T2).

St. Martin Parish College and Career Readiness Center opens Dec. 10

The St. Martin Parish School Board’s College and Career Readiness Center opens officially with a ribbon-cutting Thursday, Dec. 10, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the site of the former Breaux Bridge Elementary School, 702 W. Bridge St.
