Addition to Cajun Music Hall of Fame opens

Mannequins of three people who had a great influence on Cajun French music were unveiled in the grand opening of a new addition at the Cajun Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Eunice Saturday.

Cleoma Breaux Falcon, Joe Falcon, and Lionel Leleux are holding instruments in a life-size display in the addition.

Cleoma Breaux, 1905-1941, was a pioneer Cajun musician/vocalist. She married Falcon, who played the trangle and the accordion with her father's band. They later formed their own band.

Joe Falcon, 1900-1965, an Acadia Parish native, began playing at age 7. He and Cleoma were the first musicians to record a Cajun song, "Allons a Lafayette.

Leleux, 1912-1996, was a skilled fiddle maker and player born in Vermillion Parish.

He played with Joe Falcon and Nathan Abshire, though he refused to entertain publicly while his children were growing up. He resumed playing afer they had reached adulthood.
