Another whooper klled and one injured

A $1,000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of the sharpshooter who killed one whooping crane and injured another near here on Feb. 7.
Shooting on of the endangered birds is similar, according to gun experts, to shooting a chicken, and equally sporting.
Some claim that a reckless hunter could mistake a crane for one of thousands of geese now in the area, though the only readily apparent similarity is both species are white.
The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries released 50 cranes into the wild in 2011. Friday, one was discovered dead and the other injured just north of this community.
The dead female had been shot multiple times.
They bring to five the number that have been shot in the state.
There are about 600 whooping cranes left in the world, now 31 in Louisiana.
