Little basketball action over New Year week

With many teams taking a break after big Christmas week tournaments, the only action involving St. Martin Parish teams came last Friday, Jan. 3, when St. Martinville and Cecilia notched non-district victories.

The Tigers rolled to a 70-52 win over Jeanerette while Cecilia topped Northwest, 59-49.

Breaux Bridge did not play.

With those games the local teams wrapped up non-league play. All three schools had District 5-4A openers set for last night (Tuesday), with The ’Ville (7-9)heading to Cecilia (6-8)and Breaux Bridge (8-9) visiting Teurlings Catholic.

Upcoming district action includes:

•Friday, Jan. 10 – Cecilia at Teurlings and Northside at Breaux Bridge.

•Tuesday, Jan. 14 – St. Martinville at St. Thomas More, Breaux Bridge at Westgate and Northside at Cecilia.
