Mrs. Yolande was a devoted housewife and mother, who catered to every need of her children and family. A devout Catholic all of her life and a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Yolande made sure to pass down her faith to her children and grandchildren. It is because of her faith in the Lord, that she was able to find comfort and peace, after the passing of her two children, Linda Marie and James. She lived a very simple life and showed gratitude and appreciation for even the littlest of things. Though not wealthy in material possessions, she was very rich in the love she had for her Lord and Savior. There was never a stranger met, nor a meal she did not offer. After raising her children, she spent her later years bringing joy and happiness to each and every one of her grandchildren. Yolande enjoyed family gatherings, praying her rosary, cooking, especially her famous white steak, traveling to various grandchildren’s homes across the south, and most importantly her sleepovers with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, where she taught them to speak French, pray the rosary, family history, and even to play Pokeno. She was a remarkable woman, so full of life and kindness, and will be forever loved and missed by all of those who were lucky enough to have known her.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann LeBlanc and Laura Mills and husband, Charles, all of Breaux Bridge; her sons, Russell Champagne and companion, Tammy McCarty, and Dennis Champagne and wife, Angela, all of Breaux Bridge; her sister, Emily T. Guidry and husband, Harold, of Breaux Bridge; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James “Bon” Jeffery Champagne , Sr.; her son, James Champagne, Jr.; her daughter, Linda Marie Aquinaldo; two brothers, Wilfred and Ozaire Thibodeaux; her sister, Eunice T. Maturin; her father, Joseph Thibodeaux; her mother, Ivy Bertrand Thibodeaux; her step mother, Marie Bergeron Thibodeaux; and her son-in-law, John LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Champagne, Blake Thibodeaux, Dirk Thibodeaux, Charles Mills, Shane Racca, and Clint LeBlanc.
Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Champagne, Aaron Marks, Kade Champagne, Martin Aquinaldo, Jeremy Champagne, Kain Comeaux, and Randy Melancon.
