A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Verna Frederick Patin, 88, who passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014.
Visiting hours were observed from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A Rosary was prayed by Fr. Ed Degeyter at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Fr. Donald Pelous officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Patin was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a member of the St. Bernard Altar Society and the Rosary Group.
She is survived by two sons, Marty Patin and his wife Lisa of Lafayette, and David Patin and his wife Cheryl of Breaux Bridge; five grandchildren, Trey Patin, Ian Patin, Britt Patin, Reed Patin and Maddie Patin; three brothers, Larry Frederick and his wife Dru of Hammond, Steve Frederick and his wife Grace of St. Martinville, and Luther Frederick of St. Martinville; and five sisters, Lena Miller, Anna Frederick, Loula Dupuis and her husband August, and Donna Guillory and her husband Karl, all of Breaux Bridge, and Inez Deason and her husband Charles of Baton Rouge.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Patin; her parents, Arista Joseph Frederick and Edia Marie Guidry Frederick; her brother, Floyd Frederick; and her grandson, Evan Patin.
Pallbearers were Marty Patin, David Patin, Trey Patin, Ian Patin, Britt Patin and Luther Frederick.
Honorary pallbearers were Reed and Maddie Patin.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her nurses, Lori Van der Lugt, Nicole Bergeron, Cindy Langley and Teresa Babineaux, and to Southern Care Hospice, for the compassionate care given to her during her time of need.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
