Ricky John Broussard

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014, at St. Marcellus Catholic Church for Ricky John Broussard, 53, who passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 in New Iberia.
Entombment followed in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Eugene Tremie was the Celebrant. Gift Bearers were Brooke Broussard, Jade Broussard and Brandy Simmons. Scriptures were read by Melissa Broussard and Tammy Bienvenu.
A gathering of family and friends took place on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday. Visitation continued on Friday from 8 a.m.until 10:30 a.m.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Ricky was born on October 26, 1961, and was a graduate of New Iberia Senior High. He was co-owner and operator of Square B Farms, and his hobbies included gardening and fishing. Never meeting a stranger, Ricky was always helping others, putting their needs before his own. Ricky was always ready to help out in the Community. He was President of Rynella Ball Park where he also coached. He was involved in the New Iberia Jay-cees serving on local and state boards, also volunteering his services to the 4-H and Boy Scout programs. A lifetime member of St. Marcellus Catholic Church and a member of Cajun Sugar Coop. He was a vendor at area farmers markets and an outstanding young farmer in 1999 local and state levels. He also won hi-yield sugarcane awards for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Latica Lasseigne Broussard of New Iberia; sons, Josh Paul Broussard of New Iberia and Trent John Broussard of New Iberia; sister, Patsy Borel and husband Brent of New Iberia; brother, Patrick Broussard and wife Melissa of New Iberia; grandchildren, Emaleigh Broussard, Katelynn Landry, Halianna Roberts and Briannia Roberts; and his father and mother-in-law, Carol and Barbara Lasseigne of Catahoula.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Stonewall Broussard and Olivia Laviolette Broussard.
Pallbearers were Patrick Broussard, Jonathan Broussard, Brad Broussard, Dean Alver, Leroy Gary, Mark Theriot, Wiley “T-Black” Theriot and Clarence Broussard.
Honorary pallbearers were Josh Broussard, Trent Broussard, Adam Laviolette Jr., Brent Borel, Carol Lasseigne, Lance Leleux, EJ Broussard, Eddie Paul Romero, Keith Melancon, Jerry Theriot, Jimmy Theriot and Rene Phillips.
