Paul ‘Poppie’ Wesley Maturin

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Paul “Poppie” Wesley Maturin, 67, who passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 50 p.m. Friday until 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Joey Boudreaux and Angela Broussard. Gift bearers will be Maddison Boles and Chelsie Stansbury.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Paul Wesley Maturin, better known as “Poppie,” was a faithful and longtime parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, where he enjoyed spending time in the Adoration Chapel. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed being outdoors cutting his grass, fishing and hunting. Poppie was a hard worker and always made sure the house was clean and neat. He loved his animals, but most of all he had a big love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Poppie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Special thanks to Heart of Hospice, Cancer Centers of Acadiana, the Doctors and nurses at LGMC, Brian and Angela Theriot, Monique Broulett, Jan Newman, his guardian angel “Wezi,” his daughters, and numerous family and friends who have helped and reached out during this difficult time.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Glenda Myers Maturin; his son, Scott Maturin and wife Beth; his daughters, Heather Boles and husband Michael, Brandi Maturin and companion Adam Rewis, Dawn Granger and husband Timothy, Danielle Maturin and companion Glenn Breaux, Demetria Rice and husband Michael, and Brittany Morgan and husband Edward; his mother, Gladys Bourque Maturin; his brothers, Wakely Maturin and wife Mona, Dennis Maturin, Norris Maturin Jr. and wife Joy, and Audley Maturin; his sisters, Madell Neil and husband Robert, and Penny Broussard and husband Scott; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his faithful and beloved dog, Bruno.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norris Joseph Maturin Sr.; and his sisters, Ruby LeBlanc, Katherine Maturin and Cecile Yvonne Maturin.
“Paul” bearers will be Scott Maturin, Michael Boles, Brandon Landry, Colby LeBlanc, Timothy Granger and Adam Rewis.
Honorary “Paul” bearers will be Lance and Michael Arceneaux.
