Monique Marie Walker

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Monique Marie Walker, 31, who passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
Visiting hours were observed from 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary was prayed by Deacon Ken Soignier at 7 p.m. on Friday. A Eulogy was given by Terin Gary and Pamela Baudry
Rev. Michael DeBlanc officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Michelle Kelly and Allison Silvas. Gift Bearers were Vel Borel and Paula Berard. Eucharistic Ministers were Maxine Latiolais and Della Schexnyder.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Monique was a 2001 graduate of Cecilia Sr. High School. She was active in track and lettered in Cheerleading and as a Football Manager. After graduation Monique attended UL Lafayette for three semesters before deciding to pursue a career in Dental Assisting. She graduated as a certified Dental Assistant from Acadiana Area Career College.
Monique worked for a couple of years as a Dental Assistant before her disability no longer allowed her the freedom and mobility necessary to continue in this occupation. She was an employee at both Wal-Mart in Breaux Bridge and Academy Sports - Louisiana Ave. - in Lafayette. She was a vivacious young woman who was often known to brighten someone’s day with her smile and happy go lucky attitude.
She was a devoted Nanny to her niece and nephew – Jeremiah and Mackenzie Kelly. She always tried to go out of her way to please everyone around her. She was most certainly a rare angel whom you may only happen upon once in a lifetime. To all who really knew her she will be so sadly missed. ROAR sister!
She is survived by her sister, Michelle Walker Kelly and her husband Kim; her nephew and niece, Jeremiah and Mackenzie Kelly; and her maternal grandmother, Lena Blanchard Latiolais.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Wanda Latiolais Walker of Cecilia; her paternal grandfather, Bernard “Levi” Prejean of Carencro; her paternal grandmother, Albanie Castille Walker of Cecilia; and her maternal grandfather, Howard Latiolais of Catahoula.
Pallbearers were Kim Kelly, Jeremiah Kelly, Cody Guidry, Bart Latiolais, Brock Latiolais, Allen Buford and Jason Eastin.
Honorary pallbearers were Maurice Latiolais, Howard Troy Latiolais and Scotty Walker.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia was in charge of arrangements.
