Mary A. Narcisse George

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Mary Alta Narcisse George, 76, who passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m.
Rev. Stanley Jawa will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Lakeisha Guilliam and Gloria Kindrick. Gift Bearers will be Raylon Mason, Hannah Guilliam, DeAndre Gedward, and Sarah Guilliam.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mrs. Mary was known by many as a devoted Catholic who attended Mass weekly and prayed the rosary on a daily basis. She enjoyed watching her soaps, cooking, and talking on the phone with her sister and nieces. She loved visiting with family and friends and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary also enjoyed holidays because it brought everyone together. She was not just a mother to her children, but their best friend, who believed in unity. She will be remembered for the unconditional love she shared in a unique way.
She is survived by two sons, Nalton George Jr. and Peter George, both of St. Martinville; five daughters, Linda Guilliam and husband Milton of Ocoee, Fla., Rachael Thomas and husband Isaac D., Gwendolyn Francis and husband Mitchell Jr., Mary D George and Cynthia Wiltz and husband Jerome, all of St. Martinville; her sister, Elnora “Sue” Leon of St. Martinville; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Nalton George, Sr.; her parents, Pascal and Bertha LeBlanc Narcisse; a twin son, Dalton George; daughter-in- law, Rachael T. George; granddaughter, Shannon George; son-in-law, Cornelius Gedward, nine sisters, Louise Lewis, Porena Landry, Ida Charles, Regina Narcisse, Albertina Hypolite, Mildred Charles, Alice Narcisse, Mable Roberts and Enola Mitchell; and seven brothers, Alvin Narcisse, Clarence Johnson, Joseph Narcisse, Albert Narcisse, Pascal Narcisse, Paul Narcisse and Eli Narcisse.
Pallbearers will be Peter George, Cedric George, Nalton George III, Jody Guilliam, Cornell Gedward and Steven Charles Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nalton George Jr., Isaac Thomas, Vince Roberts, Andrew Phillips, Mitchell Francis Jr., Jerome Wiltz, Milton Guilliam Jr., Paul Phillips, Lincoln Phillips, Joseph Roberts and Milton Guilliam III.
