Linsay Valsin Solarie
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at St. Louis Chapel for Linsay Valsin Solarie, 80, who passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Alicia Breaux. Gift Bearers will be Andrea Dugas and Shannon Wiltz.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Solarie was employed by Martin Mills for nine years, St. Agnes Nursing Home, as a C.N.A., for eight years, and worked as a home-seamstress for many years. She enjoyed cooking and sharing her delicious meals with others.
Mrs. Solarie was a parishioner of St. Louis Chapel in Parks and a member of the St. Paul Benevolent Society.
She is survived by four sons, Michael Solarie and his wife Jessica, Francis Solarie and his fiancée Lisha Sonnier, Patrick Solarie and his wife Celene Deshotel Solarie, and Ronald Solarie and his wife Lori Broussard Solarie, all of Parks; her daughter, Rosetta Solarie Dugas of Parks; four sisters, Mary Lee Thomas of Port Arthur, Texas, Ezola Syes of Galveston, Texas, Lois Lewis of Breaux Bridge and Wila Mae Frederick and husband, George, of Cecilia; two brothers, Alcee Valsin and wife Patricia, and Louis Valsin Jr. and wife Gail, all of Port Arthur, Texas; nine grandchildren, Andrea Dugas, Shannon Wiltz, Paige Solarie, Braelyn Solarie, Bryson Solarie, Diesel Solarie, Micah Solarie, Loren Breaux and Aldus Martin; and two great- grandchildren, Shawn and Janae Wiltz.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Valsin Sr. and Matilda Phillips Valsin; her husband, Melvin Solarie; and her sister, Anita Potier.
Pallbearers will be Roland Frederick, Larry Frederick, Albert Potier, Melvin Potier, Troy Syes and Crandle Valsin.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Debra Durham and staff, Charles Cambre, Karen Knott, and the staffs of St. Martin Hospital and Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette, as well as to family members and friends for their constant prayers and support during her time of need.
