Laura Mae Legnon Dugas

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 3 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church for Laura Mae Legnon Dugas, 82, who died Saturday, October 31, 2014, in Lafayette.
Interment followed in St. Peter Cemetery in New Iberia.
Rev. Ed Degeyter was the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends was held Sunday from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. Sunday. Visitation continued on Monday from 10 a.m. until 2:15 p.m.
A native of New Iberia, Mrs. Dugas was born on January 1, 1932, to Harrison and Thelma Hulin Legnon, and was a retired cafeteria worker, having worked for the St. Martin Parish School Board. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, camping, dancing, and making people laugh. Mrs. Dugas also enjoyed spending time with her family who she loved very much.
Survivors include children, Lynn A. Dugas and wife Debra of New Iberia, Gwenlyn A. Boudreaux of New Iberia, and Gilda M. Veazey and husband Heith of St. Martinville; brother, Mitchel Blanchard and wife Theresa of Vinton; sisters, Doris Gaspard of New Iberia, Gail Vice of Youngsville and Marie Blanchard of New Iberia; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lenis J. Dugas; a son, Eloi Lewis Dugas; brothers, Lawrence Legnon and and Leroy Legnon.
Pallbearers were Shannon Dugas, Brian Dugas, Andy Firmin, Loggen Dugas, Heith Veazey, Josh Judice and Renaldo Boutte.
