Kim James Berard
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Kim James Berard, 56, who passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continued at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Rusty Richard officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Annette Trahan and Megan Hulin. Gift Bearers were Dustin Berard and Brittney Hulin.
Entombment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Kim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, going to the camp, riding in his boat, and trips to the beach. He was a huge sports fan and he especially enjoyed watching his children play sports. Kim loved to fix things and was a perfectionist in everything he did. His most cherished moments were those spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Liz Gary Berard of St. Martinville; his son, Dustin Berard of St. Martinville; his daughter, Brittney Hulin and husband Brady of St. Martinville; two grandchildren, Kai Berard and Ethan Hulin; his mother, Audrey Pennison Berard of Loreauville; three brothers, Gregg Berard and wife Terry of New Iberia, Peter Berard of Broussard and Danny Berard and wife Rolain of St. Martinville; two sisters, Anita Migues and husband Danny of Delcambre and Lisa Berard of New Iberia; his mother-in-law, Oline Gary of St. Martinville; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Berard; his brother, Peter Paul Berard; his niece and nephew, Jamie and Shawn Berard; paternal grandparents, Overn and Celine Chataignier Berard; maternal grandparents, Horace and Irene Pennison; his father-in-law, Leopold “Kaiser” Gary; and his brother-in-law, Mike Boggs.
Pallbearers were Danny Berard, Lloyd Berard Jr., Larry Broussard, Jay Bernard, Lee Gary and Carroll Delahoussaye.
Honorary pallbearers werbe Dustin Berard, Brady Hulin, Gregg Berard, Peter Berard and Jake Delahoussaye.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
