Joseph ‘JP’ Percy Champagne

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Joseph Percy Champagne, 83, who passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
He enjoyed praying along with EWTN, dancing when he was younger, working on the family farm and spending time with his family and friends. He was blind most of his life, but when someone entered the room, he became aware of their presence by their scent and touch.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to caregiver, Brooke Stafford, the staff at St. Agnes Health Care and St. Joseph Hospice.
He is survived by his niece, Janice L. Dupuis and spouse Alvin; nephew, Benny LeBlanc and spouse Michele; great-niece, Miriam D. Theriot and spouse Keith, and Kala Guichard and spouse Adam; great nephews, Daniel Dupuis and spouse Rachel, Gerard Dupuis, Donney LeBlanc and spouse Joan, and Bradley LeBlanc; and great-great nephews, Sean Champagne and Layne Theriot.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Joseph Champagne; mother, Cecilia Delahoussaye Champagne; and his sister, Mary Joyce Champagne.
Pallbearers were Benny LeBlanc, Bradley LeBlanc, Daniel Dupuis, Gerard Dupuis, Keith “Cedo” Theriot and Sean Champagne.
Honorary Pallbearers were Harold Champagne, Alvin Dupuis, Donney LeBlanc and Ty LeBlanc.
